  • Good lighting and sound
  • Nice, professional teaching space
  • Say your name, education/ experience, teaching philosophy, what classes you are going to teach, and some fun, creative, and personal things (family, hobbies..).

_______Go  to pd.outschool.com for the Teacher Training Center! It provides great training! You can also look at their Blog.

_______Download Zoom. (Features)

_______Join the Official Outschool Facebook group if you haven't. (This is optional but SUPER helpful!)

_______Join Nancy Taylor's  Outschool Facebook group if you haven't. (Also optional and helpful)

_______Read through the Teacher Guide, there is so much amazing information! I break down the links on the resources page if you are looking for a popular item. If you don't see it, you can just search for it in the search bar at the top of the Teacher Guide.

_______Make your first lesson and submit it to be approved. (You must have 1 class approved before you can submit more. Once you are approved, you can submit as many as you like!)

_______Open bookings for your class as soon as you want to teach.

  • I opened bookings up right away but the longer time for advertisement, the better.
  • Try to have bookings out at least 2 weeks. This gives the most time for advertisement and booking potential.
  • Choose the times you want to teach. Mark these in the availability function. If you have them all check marked, parents can automatically book you for a class you didn't have open but that you said you were available for.
  • Classes will be canceled 24 hours in advance if there are no students. You can go in and un-cancel it if you want to. I do this because I get last-minute students joining.
  • You can market your classes on social media if you want to. (Share your class link on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest...)
  • Here are some great marketing tips.
  • Outschool does market for you and it has worked very well for me!
  • Classes during the day are booking really well. Try different times to see what gets you booked better.

_______Start planning other lessons; keep a list going. Start filling out the lesson templates so that you can easily submit more classes once you are approved.

_______Make sure to get permission for any copyrighted things you want to use. Look closely at websites and books to see if they already give permission for educational use. You can email publishers and authors for permission to use it.

_______Take the free training classes Outschool offers for teachers. (This is optional but they have some amazing classes about marketing, submitting classes, titling classes..etc.) You can find this by going to "Find Classes" on Outschool.com and search "Outschool Team". All the classes and times will come up.
