Hey there! So you have met the basic requirements with VIPKID and want to move onto the demo step in the application process? You will find that you get 3 options here - one of them is the Smart Demo. Let's choose this option because we are smart, right? Great! It's quick and virtually painless to do but I want to share my knowledge (really Nancy's knowledge) to help you get through it fast. I'm Teacher Stephanie and in this post I want to give you a quick summary of the smart demo steps, an overview of teaching strategies and a checklist to get yourself ready before you click "Record".

Hey there friends! Today we are going to talk all about the new Incentive Tiered pay system for new VIPKID teachers. This system will be for teachers that have passed their demo after December 2019. As of right now, teachers who have been hired before that are on the old system (explained in this post). 

As a VIPKID you should know that you are not paid an hourly rate. This can be confusing but VIPKID wants to encourage both quality and quantity in its teachers and this new system is a great motivator of both.  Your pay check is broken into two parts: class base pay and bonuses.

Class Base Pay:

When you apply to VIPKID part of the process is passing your interview. Depending on how well your interview goes plus your education and experience will determine your class base pay. It will be between $7-9 per class.

Hello to my ESL teaching friends! Teacher Stephanie here to talk to you all about getting your TESOL certificate with VIPKID. This certificate is required to get before you start teaching if you don't have a current teaching certificate. Luckily for us, VIPKID offers a free course to it's teachers and applicants to get their TESOL certificate. In this post I will explain what the certificate is, give you some tips for passing the quizzes, and provide a brief summary of the information found in the course.

 Hello my amazing teacher friends! Greetings from Teacher Stephanie! I hope that you are having a fabulous day and you are ready to pass your Mock Class for levels 2 and 3.  Let's get pumped! Can I get a Woot Woot? 

For this step in the application process, you will prepare both lesson A & B and then when you show up for your certification, the interviewer will choose which one you teach. You will teach for a total of 10 minutes.

Take notes. She guides you on each slide with how to teach and what the mentors are looking for to give you the most points to pass and probably more importantly, what not to do to fail. I'm probably pointing out the obvious here, but she's real good.

The demo can be recorded on your own schedule and sent in or you can schedule it to be done with an interviewer so that you have a person on the other end of the screen while you are teaching. I personally chose to record my demo and send it in because I wanted to make sure I had good lighting, my kids were taken care of (so I wouldn’t have any interruptions) and I could do it at a time convenient to my own schedule. However, I will admit that you do feel a little silly animatedly teaching to no one. GOOD NEWS! The goofiness didn’t stop but being self-conscious about it did. Being able to laugh at yourself is part of the job and it's what makes teaching so fun!
